Message from the President: Classes on July 1 and onward

Dear Faculty Members,

Classes on July 1 and onward

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued efforts in the education of our university. In the midst of the COVID-19 disaster, we have asked you to provide special support in running classes and other activities, and we would like to express our gratitude for your cooperation.

At the beginning of AY2021, our university’s class implementation policy was based on face-to-face classes, but in accordance with the issuance of the Declaration of Emergency Situations, we asked you to take alternative measures, including high-flex classes and online classes.

On June 20, the Declaration of Emergencies, which had been issued to 10 prefectures, including Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hyogo, was lifted with the exception of Okinawa Prefecture. From June 21, seven prefectures, including Tokyo and Osaka, were subject to the Priority Measures for Prevention of Extension, etc. The spread of COVID-19 has not yet been brought under control, but from July 1 onward, face-to-face classes will be resumed with thorough infection prevention measures in place. There are only three classes left for the first semester, but we ask that you make every effort to ensure that students have the opportunity to participate in face-to-face classes.

We will be conducting face-to-face classes while taking all possible precautions to prevent infection, so some faculty members may be asked to change classrooms or conduct high-flex classes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience.

*Due to the limited capacity of the classrooms, the Educational Affairs Division will contact you this week about the classes that will be held in the high-flex style.
If you are a teacher in charge of a high-flex class that has been notified by the Educational Affairs Division, please inform the students of the Meet URL in your class profile.

*If students other than those who have been granted special consideration since April request to avoid going to school due to anxiety about being infected with COVID-19, we ask that you consider taking measures such as holding high-flex classes.

-    In order to prevent infection, please cancel classes if you have symptoms such as fever, malaise, or loss of sense of taste and smell.
-    Please take care of your health by yourself, such as measuring your body temperature every morning.
-    Please disinfect your hands with alcohol when entering the building.
-    Please wear a mask on campus and in class.
