Message from the President

We have set our third Medium-Term Management Plan, Vision 2032, as “Aiming to be a university and junior college where everyone can experience ‘Major in Anything. Minor in Leadership.®’.”
While students at Kyoritsu major in the specialized field of their faculty or department, all students learn leadership skills through all educational activities. “Major in Anything. Minor in Leadership.®” expresses the relationship between the two aspects of utilizing the specialized knowledge and skills of these faculties and departments and demonstrating leadership.
In recent years, the number of applicants to women’s universities has been on the decline, and they are currently facing a difficult situation, with some universities becoming coeducational. However, as the Japan Gender Gap Index shows, women’s universities still have a social role to play, and we believe there is an education that only a women’s university can provide. One of these is leadership education.
The leadership that we develop and nurture is “the ability to rely on yourself, to be independent, and to work with others through friendship to achieve goals,” which we have named “Kyoritsu Leadership®.” This leadership is not top-down, but mutually supportive. The first half of the definition is based on the spirit of our establishment, “women’s independence and self-reliance.” The second half is rooted in our motto of “sincerity, diligence, and friendship.”
Across the university, Kyoritsu offers approximately 300 courses that cater to leadership. However, starting from fiscal 2025, we will further strengthen leadership education by establishing a university-wide course called “Introduction to Leadership for Problem Solving” (a compulsory subject).
In November 2024, the trademarks “Major in Anything. Minor in Leadership.®” and “Kyoritsu Leadership®” were registered, demonstrating our commitment to leadership education.
We hope that all students will acquire and develop “Kyoritsu Leadership®” throughout various aspects of their student life.
