Academic Support for Students Facing Commuting Difficulties Due to Typhoons, Heavy Rain, and Other Natural Disasters

Kyoritsu Women's University and Kyoritsu Women's Junior College have established a support system for class delivery and academic arrangements to ensure that students who are unable to commute to campus as usual due to natural disasters, such as typhoons and heavy rain, or related disruptions to public transportation can continue their studies safely.

For students affected by the recent typhoon and heavy rain, the following measures will be implemented for a designated period.

Ensuring Opportunities to Participate in Classes

For in-person lecture courses, classes will, in principle, be streamed live so that students who are unable to commute to campus can participate from home or another location.

In addition, class recordings will be made available to ensure continuity of learning in cases where students are unable to participate in real time due to power outages or internet disruptions.

For seminar and other courses where similar arrangements are feasible, appropriate measures will be taken in consideration of the course content and format.

Arrangements for Seminars, Experiments, Practical Training, and Skills-Based Courses

For seminars, experiments, practical training, and other skills-based courses for which live streaming or other uniform arrangements are difficult due to the nature of the course, each faculty, department, or course instructor will make appropriate arrangements based on the course content and learning objectives.

Measures to Prevent Academic Disadvantage

Students will be given appropriate consideration regarding submission deadlines, attendance, and absences so that commuting difficulties caused by natural disasters or disruptions to public transportation do not result in academic disadvantage.

In particular, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that repeated tardiness or absences resulting from such commuting difficulties do not adversely affect students' eligibility to take examinations or meet course requirements.

While placing the highest priority on student safety, the University will continue to provide an environment in which students can continue their studies even when affected by natural disasters.
